Swim Lessons for Ages 6 Months to 2 Years
Toddlers are naturally curious around water, which makes early guidance important.
At FINS Swim School, our Parent-Child Program introduces babies ages 6–24 months to the water in the most comfortable way possible: with you right there.
Every session builds early water-safety habits and eases your child's first splash experience.
Where Your Baby's Water Journey Begins
Before babies learn to swim, they first need to feel comfortable in the water.
Our Little Dipper Galaxy uses 30-minute parent-child sessions with a 6:1 ratio to build gentle water comfort, trust, and early exploration with you by their side.

Love this place! My son is currently taking classes with Alex and Richard and I truly can’t say enough great things about them. My son is happy, he’s making major improvements, and he actually looks forward to going. Two thumbs up.

I highly recommend FINS of The Woodlands. My children have made great progress through this program. Previously, we tried two other swim programs and made little to no progress. This was a completely different story. The instructors are patient, give clear instructions and make the learning experience fun for the kids.

As this time of the year is the time to express appreciation and gratitude, I’m writing with my thanks to the FINS team. My son has been swimming with them for years and it has been nothing but a wonderful experience. The team is very accommodating, the instruction is highly professional, the support is constant. THANK YOU, FINS!

Love the experience here!! I can proudly say that 3 of my children that go to FINS will be well trained to join a swim team. That’s what makes it a great place to be. The joy of comfortably knowing your kids are safe in the pool is another. Highly recommend this place to anyone.

Frequently Asked Questions
At what age can babies start swim lessons at FINS?
Our Parent-Child program welcomes babies from 6 to 2 years old.
How many swim lessons does my toddler need?
Progress depends on the child, but finishing both Little Dipper levels builds water comfort. Weekly attendance is key to lasting safety habits and confidence.
What if my baby is nervous around water?
That is exactly what this program is designed for. Having a parent in the water helps nervous babies build comfort at their own pace.
How long are Parent-Child lessons?
Classes run for 30 minutes, creating the ideal window to maximize physical learning without exhausting a baby's attention span.
What comes after Parent-Child Swim Lessons?
Once your child reaches 18 months and feels secure swimming without a parent in the pool, they can graduate into our private Intro to Swim and Safety program.
